So yesterday, I was fortunate enough to be able to shoot the launch of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. The self-named foundation is the brainchild of former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo and will be focusing on a couple of key initiatives including healthcare, youth empowerment, education for girls and feeding Africa.
It was a truly wonderful evening with a fantastic turnout, which included 4 African presidents as well as a whole host of dignataries, industry giants and celebrities. The 4 African presidents in attendance were: President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria, President Thomas Yayi Boni of Benin, President John Dramani Mahama of the Republic of Ghana and President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of the Republic of Liberia. It was a very relaxed evening and we were given unprecedented access to these great rulers. I was shooting right next to the Ghanaian president, so close in fact, that I accidentally hit him with my flashgun as I stood up to change position. I looked up at him extremely apologetic and with apprehension but he was very nice about it. (Thank God!)
A big congratulations to the organisers who did a truly fantastic job as an excellent evening was had by all. If you are interested in finding out more and / or contributing to the Foundation, be sure to check out the official website for more information.
